About Me
Until now, I’d never thought much about what it meant to have been the last 5th grader standing in the elementary school “storytelling contest”. That I was a born storyteller? Perhaps. But there was also my innate passion for winning which went even further back! When I was about four with no sibling yet and wanted to play a board game, I’d be my own opponent! And my favorite thing on TV? Game shows. Always.
When my first music teacher told me I was too small for it, my first official act as a trumpet player was to say “Give it to me!” Eventually, I played a solo at Carnegie Hall. I also started early on my lifelong involvement with sports. I was never the biggest kid, (quite the opposite, actually) but on my high school’s cross-country track team, I went from a freshman unable to run the whole race, to a senior representing our school at the New York City championships.
I was never a straight-A student, but worked extremely hard at my studies and made the Dean’s List a bunch of times as a business administration undergrad at Cornell University. Then, I earned a professional certification from The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. It generally took folks about six years to do, but all fired up, I got it in less than one.
I learned quickly that goal-setting and storytelling are amazing partners. At the start of my career I changed jobs a few times to enhance the scope of my experience. Through this, I became an excellent interviewee.
From the outset of my business career I saw the power in, and started my commitment to customer service, mostly through marketing and sales related roles.
At a national housewares retailer (Bed, Bath & Beyond) I helped the company create profitable assortments of merchandise customers liked. At a leading global market research provider (NPD) I helped manufacturers figure out customer desires, in order to make top-selling items. I then returned to Cornell for an MBA. There, I led a sales team to successfully turnaround a local business. And now, I’m running my own!
These experiences revealed to me my purpose: To be my best, and help others be their best! To me, limits are things to be tested, overcome, and extended. Not just in work, but throughout life. Including my (everyone’s?) latest hobby, pickleball…where I became an advanced level (4.0) player in about six months. I still indulge my childhood interest in board games, but now with heavily strategic fare. And I bring all of these passions to my favorite family role…the “Fun Uncle!”
I fundamentally believe there is always a path to victory. We just need to see it, plan it, and take it. Through my business I’m bringing what makes me – well, me – to helping you get where you want to be!
